When America’s national bird attacks…
If you were ever wondering what it would be like to be attacked by a bald eagle while golfing, do I have the perfect video for you. One man by the name of Randy Wallace had that exact thing happen to him while he was playing at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee (close to Gatlinburg), and he turned on his camera so he could get video proof of the eagle out on the golf course.
Though getting attacked by a predatory bird while golfing isn’t ideal, they say a bad day at the course is better than a good day at the office.
In my humble opinion, there’s nothing like spending the day out on the golf course. Even if you shoot a few (or a bunch) over par, there’s just something about being outside and being one with nature… and drinking a couple of beers and powering through some hot dogs at the turn. The way I look at it, you just happen to be hitting a little white ball around while you are out there.
And typically, the word “eagle” is reserved for a score in golf that’s two-under-par. However, because golf happens in the great outdoors, occasionally the “Big Bird” can make a literal appearance. If I’m losing you with all of the golf jargon, I’m just trying to set the scene here… a bald eagle is featured in this wild video below.
The golfer in the footage out of Sevierville Golf Club (I’ve played the course before, it’s a great track) was just minding his business when he came upon a challenging green side shot. Not only did the guy have to calculate the slope of the green and determine if chipping it or putting it was better… he had to avoid getting attacked America’s national bird, which was a) angry and b) upset that the man’s golf ball was cramping its style.
I’ve got to say that the golfer handled it all very well with the large eagle squawking and running after him. He can be heard laughing and telling the bald eagle it’s “got to go” as he retreated and left his ball, putter, and towel by the green. Birdies and eagles are typically welcomed out on the golf course… but this is the exception:
Yeah… I’d be picking up my ball and moving on to the next hole.
Looking at this from a glass half full perspective, I guess it is pretty cool to get this close to a bald eagle out on the wild? Its beauty was on full display, yet so was its tenacity. That bird is definitely nothing to mess with, and certainly worth retreating from. The golfer made the smart call backing away, and social media users were also right in cracking jokes about the encounter in the comments section:
“That’s one way to make eagle.”
“Bro’s like ‘You prayed for an eagle today? I’m here.'”
“This is the most American s*** I’ve seen all week.”
“Angry sky chicken is not a big fan of golf .”
“I’m writing eagle on the score card, easy to count when you have video proof.”The post Aggressive Bald Eagle Charges Greenside Golfer At Tennessee Golf Course first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
