Tommy Prine Pens Heartfelt Song For His Wife With New Single, “Purple Paint”

Tommy Prine is back with new music, and he’s picking up right where he left off.

Despite releasing a couple of singles in 2022, including his most-streamed song to date with “Ships in the Harbor,” Prine really seemed to gain traction within the scene as a songwriter with the release of his debut record This Far South. With a full project of original songs out in the world for all to hear, the son of songwriting royalty proved he’s able to bear the weight of his last time while simultaneously paving his own way as a a songwriter.

Following that up with the release of a few more sons for a deluxe version of the album as well as an OurVinyl Sessions EP, Prine quickly amassed a strong catalog of impressive original music, and after a brief break in releasing music, he’s right back at it. And his latest release is yet another example of his masterful lyricism.

Titled “Purple Paint,” Prine’s brand new single is a thoughtfully and cleverly written ode to his wife Savannah, anchored by the first line of the chorus in which he sings, “She colors my life when I can’t decide or I’m running in circles.” As if a solo write on this one wasn’t enough for Prine to demonstrate his artistry, he also played all of the instruments in this recording, which is quite an impressive feat.

 “My wife is the real reason I am who I am today, if not for her unwavering support and guidance I would have never taken the leap. Here’s to making me paint my bathroom purple, and for showing me that things can be built in a day that last forever.”

“Purple Paint” marks the first single off a forthcoming project for Prine, a 7-song EP titled Love Circle, set for release on August 20th.

I actually just caught his show at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte last night, and it is amazing the way Prine is able to command a room with an acoustic guitar and his songs, and it’s awesome to hear the stories behind many of them.
