This one is the feel good country song that we needed this summer.

Philip Bowen, a proud West Virginian and unassuming fiddle savant, has been on an absolute tear this summer releasing killer singles and collaborating with awesome artists in the process as he prepares for his next album release later this fall.

Fresh off of spectacular collaborations with Josiah and the Bonnevilles, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Julia DiGrazia already this summer, Bowen has kept the pedal to the metal and joined forces with Leon Majcen, another up and comer on the verge of a major breakthrough, who also happens to be an avid outdoorsman and the perfect fit for this summertime angler’s anthem.

Titled “Big Fish,” Bowen’s latest single is for all of us who would rather be on the water than at work, an extremely relatable sentiment that I would imagine applies to just about everyone who reads this. With deft lyricism, catchy melodies, and an upbeat temp that will have any listener tapping their feet and humming along in no time, this single is easy listening that is sure to provide the soundtrack for any activities you have planned to make the most of the remainder of the summer.

In a press release circulated by his PR team at Niche Media, Bowen provided some additional context behind the song.

“This song is about that pure feeling of freedom when you’re doing something you love. For me, that’s being out on a boat, skipping work, just soaking up the water and sunshine.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing people post their own skipping work videos out on a boat somewhere with his this song turned up loud!”

Now that’s something I can get behind. Give Philip Bowen’s lates single “Big Fish,” featuring Leon Majcen, a listen for yourself here:

And if you liked that (you’d be crazy if you didn’t), here are the aforementioned other singles that Bowen has released so far this summer.

“Blue as Water” ft. Charles Wesley Godwin

“Hurricane” ft. Julia DiGrazia

“Sure Could Use the Rain” – Josiah and the Bonnevilles

Like I said, Philip Bowen has been on a roll lately. And people are really taking notice, too. In addition to a handful of headlining gigs planned for the fall, Bowen will play some massive shows, kicking things off for the likes of Whiskey Myers and Dwight Yoakam.

I was lucky to be in the crowd to witness Bowen and Julia DiGrazia burn it down at the Evening Muse in Charlotte earlier this week, so I can attest firsthand, you need to buy a ticket and get to the show if he is coming to a city near you soon. Check out his tour dates below.
