Morgan Wallen Donates Over $42,000 To Local Seattle Middle School: “He Gave Our Students Belief That Their Art Matters”

Another generous donation from Morgan Wallen. Over the weekend, he was in Seattle as part of his massive I’m The Problem tour, playing two nights at Lumen Field for fans in the Pacific Northwest.

He had Anne Wilson and Miranda Lambert open the shows, and let’s just say… there were a few interesting moments. Morgan himself dealt with an unruly fan during night one, and Mrs. Miranda suffered a very unfortunate wardrobe malfunction during “Bluebird.”

But aside from everything that happened during the concert, Morgan was doing some good in the local community, and according to Seattle’s KIRO7, he donated over $42,000 to Mill Creek Middle School in Kent, Washington for new musical equipment via his Morgan Wallen Foundation.

In a release from the Kent School District, students at Mill Creek Middle School faced barriers to accessing instruments and private music lessons, and in  2023, Kent Elementary School applied for a music grant for their mariachi band, which only spotlighted their greater needs for music equipment.

Orchestra Director and Music Department Curriculum Leader Yekaterina “Katia” Velit says that some of their instruments were over 60 years old and couldn’t even hold a tune, which made the whole learning process for the kids that much more difficult:

“We had an opportunity to advocate not just for what we needed—but for the students who work so hard and deserve the best. Some of our instruments are over 60 years old. We have students sharing instruments that didn’t even hold a tune. Morgan Wallen didn’t just give us money, he gave our students the belief that their art, their effort, and their future matter.”

It’s something Morgan’s done at multiple stops on this tour in terms of donating money or instruments to local school districts, and given his huge platform, brings so much attention to the importance of music education and programs for young kids all over the country. I’m sure those kids are going to love playing with all those brand new instruments, too, and it’s such a cool way to engage with the local communities while he travels for this tour.

Morgan played two nights at Seattle’s Lumen Field on Friday and Saturday evening, and will be in Santa Clara, California at Levi’s Stadium with Anne Wilson, Miranda Lambert and Brooks & Dunn this weekend before heading to Cleveland, Foxborough and Canada to wrap it up later this summer.
