Luke Combs Previews New Album ‘The Way I Am’ With Emotional Fan Favorite, “Sleepless in a Hotel Room”
Finally…
This afternoon, Luke Combs announced his fifth studio album The Way I Am, which is set for release on March 30th. Produced by Combs, Singleton and Chip Matthews, The Way I Am will feature a whopping 22 songs, and Luke says he’s very proud of the album:
“It’s been a long process getting this thing going, but I’m really proud of this record. I’ve loved the song ‘Sleepless in a Hotel Room’ for a long time and it’s been awesome to see how excited the fans are for that one as well.”
Luke has been teasing tons of music from it, including releasing songs like “Giving Her Away,” “15 Minutes,” and “My Kinda Saturday Night,” and fans have been waiting on the official announcement for a while now.
And along with the official album announcement today, Combs put out the studio version of his longtime fan-favorite song “Sleepless in a Hotel Room,” which he wrote about five years ago and first shared in October of 2020. He wrote it with Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana, and it finds Combs missing his wife while on the road far away from home, he says:
“Trying to take a nap before my Billboard Music Awards performance tonight and I couldn’t sleep. It reminded me of this song I wrote a few months ago right before everything shutdown.
Had this idea one night when I was missing Nicole Hocking, like I am right now. Hope y’all dig this preview of it. Wrote it with Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana.”
It’s one of 22 songs that will be featured on the extensive tracklist, and it finds Combs out on the road, missing his wife back home, and wondering if she’s unable to sleep just like he is.
The music from this album feels like a big departure from his 2024 album Fathers & Sons, which was a beautiful project, through I think fans will be excited to hear that classic Luke Combs sound in full effect, which is evidenced on songs he’s already released like “My Kinda Saturday Night” and this new one, “Sleepless in a Hotel Room.”
