“We Can’t Get Home” – Comedian Tom Segura & His Wife Are Stranded In The Caribbean Because Of The Capture Of Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro
Maybe Garth can help him find his way home.
Comedian Tom Segura and his wife, Christina Pazsitzky, are stranded in the Caribbean following this weekend’s operation by the United States to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 3, the United States Army Delta Force conducted a military operation in Venezuela to capture the wanted dictator, bringing him to New York to face charges of narco-terrorism, cocaine importation, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.
The United States, along with most other democratic countries, hasn’t recognize Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela since 2019, following a rigged 2018 election in the country that saw the brutal dictator claim to be re-elected with nearly 68% of the vote.
President Donald Trump has been signaling that Maduro’s days were numbered, with the United States moving military forces into the region last summer. The administration had attempted to negotiate with Maduro, but cut off diplomatic talks with his regime in October, leading to speculation that military operations in the country were coming.
As a result of the operation, US Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy shut down some of the airspace surrounding Venezuela. And unfortunately, that’s created a headache for some Americans in the region – including Segura and his wife.
The hosts of the Your Mom’s House podcast shared a video
“We’re stuck in the Caribbean remember how we went in and we captured Maduro in Venezuela and he’s being brought to justice in New York? They’ve shut down a lot of airspace so, we’ve spent days here. I know, ‘Whaaa.’
But, yeah, we can’t get home. We’ve been stuck for extra days. Airspace becomes open and then closed. It’s fun.”
Apparently at one point Tom thought they were going to be able to get home, but once they got to the airport their plans were once again changed:
“I’ll tell you the fun part is that you go to the airport and they go, ‘You’re going to leave now.’ And then they go, ‘Just kidding. You’re not.’ Every day is just a mystery. Will we get home?”
As it turns out though, they’re far from alone in being stranded in South America. According to TMZ, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman and Mike Tyson are all among the celebrities who have had their travel plans affected by the United States strikes on Venezuela.
I mean, I guess there are worse places to be stranded.
But hey, I know Tom is good friends with Garth Brooks, right? The comedian is the one who started the whole “Garth Brooks is a serial killer” thing, so maybe the “Friends In Low Places” singer is willing to put that criminal background to use and come rescue Tom and Christina. (I’m kidding, Garth reportedly hates Tom and has blocked him on social media).
Stay safe out there, and I can’t wait for them to get back so we can hear about getting stranded in a foreign country during an international military operation.
