Ov Sulfur Post One-Take Vocal Performance of “Forlorn”

It’s the day fans of Ov Sulfur and that brand of brutal deathcore have been waiting for, as the band’s latest full-length record Endless came out today. Though I bet many of you guys have been listening to it over and over again, the band opted to peel back the curtain a bit and show you guys what it looks like when vocalists Chase Wilson and Ricky Hoover lay down their parts for the track “Forlorn.”

Everything in the clip below is apparently one-take, so any blemishes or inconsistencies with the studio version are very real. What’s wild is that these guys are able to do what they do in a consistent basis. As someone who fancies themselves a singer, I see what Hoover does and it makes me wonder how he doesn’t blow his voice out over time. I know it’s because he’s a professional and I only sing when I’m washing my ass in the shower, but that’s beside the point…

Speaking of his performance on the record, Hoover said Endless was a challenge and a half:

“This album pushed me to the edge! When it comes to vocal abilities, both in terms of screaming AND singing, accompanied by an increased presence by my co-captain Chase. Wait until you hear my falsetto in ‘Endless//Loveless.’ There’s actually a cell phone video from the studio where you can see and hear how mindblown we all were because I didn’t tell anyone I was going to try that and that first take made the album!”

Check out the clip below. Oh and don’t forget that Ov Sulfur have whole mess of shows coming up. You can find the full list of dates under the video.
