Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Gets Clowned Online For Only Spending $5,000 On Christmas Presents For His Teammates

Green Bay Packers Jordan Love is getting a lot of hate for being a bit cheap with his Christmas presents.

It’s a tradition around this time of the year for NFL quarterbacks to give their offensive linemen a little “Christmas bonus.” I always love seeing what the QBs gather up and give to the guys that help protect them all season long. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy set the bar pretty high last year when he gifted his lineman with brand new cars.

This year, Purdy gifted new cars again, only this time around, the recipients were military veterans and families battling pediatric illnesses. Quarterbacks gifting outside of their own team for Christmas is a trend I could get behind.

But before Packers QB Jordan Love thinks about giving to others outside of the Green Bay organization, he needs to make sure that he’s got this gift giving thing down. Credit to him… it looks like he gave presents to the entire Green Bay team rather than just his offensive lineman. However, from what we can tell, he only gifted each teammates with a pair of Nike Dunk sneakers.

If you do the math, and consider that Love is getting paid $55 million a year, that came out to be under $5,000 spent of gifts:

Not the best look.

You’d think that a franchise quarterback playing on a four-year, $220 million contract could afford to splurge a bit more for gifts. Granted, maybe Love went a little bit cheaper because he got everyone on the team something. Packers safety Xavier McKinney certainly seemed grateful for the gift in the above video, so maybe we’re all just looking into this a little too closely.

Then again, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy got his offensive lineman Rolex watches, and the total price of those gifts undoubtedly blow the price of “sneakers for all” out of the water:

Then you’ve also got this important tidbit: Jordan Love is a Nike brand athlete. So there’s a good chance he got a discount on the sneakers, and that $5,000 estimation might be inflated. The whole thing has caused quite the uproar online, and I’m going to guess that some people are already all out of Christmas spirit based upon how they’ve responded to this story:

Some football fans online were ripping into Jordan Love

“If they actually start catching balls, he can buy them something more expensive.”

“This might explain why none of his O-line stood up for him after he got concussed.”

“Jordan Love? More like Jordan Hates.”

“Purdy bought his O-line Toyota Tundras on a 7th round contract.”

While others somewhat sided with the Packers QB, and argued the “it’s the thought that counts” viewpoint:

“Yeah cause he should spend a bunch of money on gifts when all his teammates are rich.”

“Crazy how entitled folks are… take the shoes and say thank you.”

“Should never pressure to spend like a rockstar. That’s how athletes go broke.”

“A gift is a gift! If it has meaning to the players then f*** the price!”
