Starlink Down: Alaskan Man Watches His Internet Get Destroyed By Two Moose In A Backyard Brawl

Good luck trying to send a moose an invoice for this damage.

A homeowner and wildlife photographer in Alaska didn’t have to go very far to capture two wild animals in action. In fact, Taylor Thomas Albright only had to step onto his back porch to watch these large moose have a backyard brawl… that unfortunately knocked out his internet.

It’s not uncommon to see a moose running about in Alaska. There is an estimated population of about 200,000 in the northern-most-state of the United States of America. However, humans rarely ever get this close and personal to a couple of moose, let alone one.

So maybe Albright should consider himself lucky?

And in case you didn’t know, moose are the largest of all deer in the deer family, and their height and weight might surprise you. Males are typically bigger than females, but both are still massive creatures. On average, bull moose usually stand at six feet tall at their shoulders, and can even weigh up to 1,400 pounds. Females usually measure at five feet tall and weigh anywhere from 800 to 1,000 pounds.

In this footage, it looks like a female and her older calf are battling it out for some particular reason. The wildlife photographer thinks that the mom might be trying to tell her kiddo to hit the road and live life on its own, and the youngling isn’t quite ready for that. Can any parents out there relate?

Albright was inside of his Alaska home when a ruckus coming from his backyard got his attention. When he went out to check on things, he could barely believe his eyes as two moose were aggressively sparring… and accidentally knocking out his Starlink internet:

“I heard a loud crash. Looked out the window to see the Starlink dish smashed and these moose. This went on for nearly 30 minutes.”

So I guess Starlink setups aren’t “moose proof.” I’m sure that’s something Elon and his team will look into.

There’s not really anything Taylor Thomas Albright could have done to stop the moose from brawling just off his back porch. It was just a situation where the animals felt the urge to settle something, and the location just so happened to be his property… which in turn left him Starlink-less.

I’d assume internet out in remote Alaska can be pretty important, so this probably caused quite the headache for the wildlife photographer. Then again, Albright was able to get this video posted, so clearly he figured something out. And as he said in the caption to his post, this happened in the first couple of days of 2026.

Nothing like starting out the New Year by witnessing a moose dispute happening just steps away from your back door:

“Moose fighting smashed my Starlink. Wild start to the New Year. I believe this was a female with an older calf that she no longer wanted to have around.”

Pretty ironic that a showcase of (moose) power knocked the power out on his internet, eh? I wonder if Starlink has any sort of moose interference/damage return policy,,,
