Post Malone Delivers Flawless Cover Of Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky”

SUCH an underrated classic.

These days, I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of Jason Aldean’s music, but back in the day, he put out some great music… and “Amarillo Sky” is still one of his best in my humble opinion.

And Post Malone did it more than justice during his performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest during his performance in Nashville, which was an unexpected, but perfect, song choice for the evening.

“Amarillo Sky” was actually written by Big Kenny and John Rich, of Big & Rich, along with Rodney Clawson and Bart Pursley. It was originally recorded by Rich for his album Rescue Me in 2001. But Jason Aldean released an incredibly popular cover of the song for his 2005 self-titled debut album, and his version was released as its third single in June 2006. It earned him two nominations at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards for Video of the Year and Song of the Year, as well as video with the best direction at the CMT Music Awards.

It’s no secret by now that Post has impeccable taste in country music, and every time he performs at a big event like this, he picks the best songs and I haven’t heard him do a bad one yet… check it out:

And speaking of Posty and his love for country music, he’s not done with the genre yet… not even close. In fact, during five-hour Twitch live stream last week while playing Hunt the Game, Post let it slip that the odds are good that he’ll be putting out two records in 2026, adding that it’s his goal should “everything go my way”:

“Chances are, chat, we are getting two albums in 2026. If everything goes my way.”

Music to my ears…

In 2024, Post released his debut country album F-1 Trillion, which topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and U.S. Top Country Albums chart. By all numerical accounts, it was a huge success, and he subsequently completed his first-ever headlining stadium tour this past year following the huge success of that album.

So stay tuned for that, because it sounds like Posty has some BIG things in the works for 2026, and I can’t wait.
