Dwight Yoakam To Host Benefit Concert For Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Featuring Charley Crockett, Lukas Nelson & More
You love to see it.
Despite bigger names such as Brooks & Dunn, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and more being the primary names you associate with the beloved ’90s era of country music, there’s no denying that Dwight Yoakam is one of the most talented and ultimately underrated artists from the era. With two Grammys, two ACM awards and a plethora of platinum records, the “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere” singer has his fare share of hardware throughout his career.
Heading into 2026, the 69-year-old singer/songwriter is clearly focusing on giving back to those in need, and he’s doing it in style later this month.
During Grammy weekend, Yoakam will be raising money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) at The Roxy Theater in West Hollywood during the inaugural Dwight Yoakam & Friends: Rockin’ for the Kids at the Roxy. As for the friends he’s bringing along with him, they’re nothing short of superstars. As of now, Charley Crockett and Lukas Nelson, both of whom are nominated for Grammys at the upcoming award show on February 1st, will be joining Yoakam, along with Marcus King and more artists to be announced soon.
Notably, both Crockett and Nelson will be competing for the same trophy on Grammy night as they are both nominated for the new Best Traditional Country Album award, with Crockett being nominated for Dollar a Day and Nelson being nominated for American Romance.
In addition to Yoakam and his band, as well as Crockett, Nelson and King, none other than Billy Bob Thornton, who has been red-hot as of late thanks to Landman, will also be making an appearance at the benefit concert.
The benefit concert does not come without a personal connection for Yoakam, however. Years ago, his son was treated by CHLA’s very own, Dr. Mark Krieger. Fortunately for the 90s legend, his son would recover from an unspecified illness. With that being said, his time spent there with his son and wife, Emily Joyce, opened his eyes to the struggles millions of families across the country are going through with children battling health issues.
Yoakam would note how his time at CHLA changed his perspective and ultimately never left him. To the “Fast As You” singer, this concert is a thank you to Dr. Krieger and the hospital itself.
“When you walk the halls of a children’s hospital, it changes you. It puts all of life in a very graphic perspective. As Emily and I were there with our own child, we saw so many families facing battles no one hopes to ever have to endure. And while we were fortunate to not face those challenges, that experience never left us. Rockin’ for the Kids is our way of saying thank you to Dr. Krieger and the entire staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, on behalf of every family who puts their trust in them every single day.”
Dr. Krieger would also express just how excited he is to partner with Yoakam and his wife for the event.
“On behalf of everyone at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we are thrilled to be partnering with Mr. Yoakam and his wife on what is sure to be a truly special event.”
Tickets to the benefit concert go on sale on Yoakam’s website tomorrow, January 14th, at 10 a.m. PST.
Before you go, fire up a Yoakam classic, “It Only Hurts When I Cry.”
