A Treaty Oak Revival show is pretty high up on the dream list right now. Cold beer, rowdy fans, and Sam Canty singing his guts out. What more do you really need? But if you’re planning to hit one of their upcoming shows, like August 2nd at Bulls, Bands, and Barrels with Kolby Cooper, or their big WE Fest debut with Cody Johnson, you might want to brace yourself.

Because the Treaty Oak crowd has a tradition that’s turning into something closer to a full-contact sport.

It all starts with “Boomtown,” one of the standout tracks from the band’s No Vacancy album. It’s a certified crowd-pleaser, and for fans, it’s become a full-body experience. Especially toward the end of the song, when the audience has decided the only fitting tribute is to hurl their beers into the air like it’s fourth down in the Super Bowl.

We’re talking full cans, flying with precision.

The lyrics hit hard:

“Cause there ain’t no rest for the wicked out here… In Boomtown, USA”

And apparently, there ain’t any dry shirts either.

It’s become a real thing now. Fans launching beers into the sky as the song closes out. Getting soaked in Coors Light is one thing. Taking a Bud Heavy to the face is another. And while watching it all unfold is undeniably entertaining, it’s also kind of insane.

Some fans have started voicing concerns. Especially the ones getting clocked by beer cans. Just check out this TikTok from someone who clearly didn’t sign up for a beer-fueled brawl:

@ellen_a.money Whoever threw that is my opp. #foryou #fyp #treatyoak #concert #foryoupage #treatyoakrevival ♬ Missed Call – Treaty Oak Revival

Sam Canty addressed the madness on the Country vs Metal podcast, reflecting on a D.C. show that pushed the limits. According to Canty, the band might sling a beer or two toward the crowd, but they never throw anything from the stage. That night, something was different. The crowd was electric and a little too wild.

“The one thing that we don’t like is obviously getting hit with stuff on stage.”

He admitted the chaos threw him off and even made him worry they might get kicked off the tour.

“When I got off the stage I thought we might get kicked off the tour for this.”

After the set, Canty was picking up cans off the stage, thinking they’d crossed the line. But it turns out it was all fine. Still, he described the moment as a kind of mob mentality. Once one beer flew, the rest followed. It snowballed.

Want to hear it straight from him? Watch here:

Getting caught up in the moment is part of the fun. A little beer shower never hurt anybody. But if you’re chucking full cans directly at the stage, maybe think twice.

Or at least open it first.

But if you’re a real Treaty Oak Revival fan, chances are you’re all in for the chaos. It’s tradition, and no one’s saying it needs to stop. These shows are meant to get a little wild. Just remember: bring a helmet, and maybe pour out the beer before you launch it.

And of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention another Texas legend… Roger Creager. He is perhaps best known for the infamous “beer shower,” which fans have been participating in for years and years during his song “Love.”

It gets so wet, the band will sometimes don ponchos, or at least cover their pedal boards and monitors with plastic… check it out:
