Texas Woman Compares Tyler Childers’ Concert Monologues To Texas Ranger From ‘Talladega Nights,’ & Now I Can’t Unhear It
Ah, Tyler Childers‘ on-stage monologues… there is nothing quite like them. Ah, Tyler Childers‘ on-stage monologues… there is nothing quite like them. If you couldn’t already tell the man had a poetic soul from his music, just listening to him talk on stage should remove all doubt. The man simple has a way with words. Over the years, Tyler Childers has delivered some pretty hilarious lines on stage, whether detailing a wild story that inspired a song, cracking a joke, or most recently sharing some facts about the city he is performing in or poking fun at the different kinds of fans at his shows.
When Timmy T. Childers gets into one of his monologues, you better listen up. Some of my favorites from this year include him detailing how incredible the potato wedges he found at an Australian aquarium were, or graphically detailing his bowel movements when explaining why he had to postpone a show. You never know what’s going to come out of his mouth, but you know it will be entertaining… and oddly eloquent.
While many artists tell stories like Childers does during their show, there is something about the cadence of his voice that makes these monologues uniquely his and makes them stick with fans long after the show. During a recent performance, Childers did right outside of Houston, Texas, a social media user placed his finger on how the cadence of his voice reminds him of something, and now I can’t unhear it.
He compared Tyler Childers to Texas Ranger from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
If you are having trouble seeing the comparison, thankfully, this social media user (@Texasgirlmom on TikTok) has done us a favor and clipped moments from the classic film next to Childers’ talking.
Check it out.
@texasgirlmom I finally figured out who Tyler Childers reminds me of…. #tylerchilders #talladeganights #fyp #foryoupage #htx ♬ オリジナル楽曲 – Ongen_music
I mean… I think she’s onto something. Given that Childers has spoken about his fecal chart, I could 100% see him pulling out something related to his “pee pants” too. The matching red hair certainly doesn’t stifle the comparison either.
Many folks in the comments were quick to agree that they can see the resemblance in appearance and how Grayson Russell’s character’s voice reminds them of how Childers speaks.
“I was like ‘no way it’s gonna be-‘ and it was.”
“Never saw that til now… now I can’t unsee it.”
“This is fantastic.”
“His spirit animal is a spider monkey.”
“Well damn.”
I will never be able to unsee or unhear this comparison now. It’s too good. I’m sure that Grayson Russell never imagined a character he played as a little kid would be used to describe Tyler Childers one day.
Fire up some of Timmy Ty’s music before you go.
