If you’ve been holding your breath waiting for an update on Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spinoff “The Madison,” we’ve finally got one… and it’s a big one.

Yellowstone fans have a lot to look forward to with all of the spinoffs that are in the works, and even set to air very soon (the premiere of Y: Marshals is only a couple of months away). One spinoff that’s really intrigued the masses is The Madison, which has Michelle Pfeiffer attached, and has reportedly already shot its first season.

As far as plot is concerned, the series is supposed to revolve around the titular character of Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy matriarch who upends her life in New York City to move her and her family to Montana following a plane crash that kills her husband and brother-in-law.

They began filming the series in Montana in August of 2024, and sources say they shot more for the spinoff in Texas in November and December of last year as well. In fact, David Glasser, the CEO of 101 studios, recently said that The Madison was set to start shooting it’s second season in October of 2025… despite the first season not airing as of yet, and there not being an official order for the second season.

Back in September, more exciting news about the spinoff came out. Was it the Season One premiere date? Nope. It was that Hollywood star Kurt Russell, known for his iconic roles in Overboard (1987), Captain Ron (1992), Tombstone (1993), and The Hateful Eight (2015), had joined the cast of The Madison. Considering the timing of the announcement, it would be assumed that he’s joining on for the show’s second season… but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he’d also be included in the western drama’s inaugural run.

Chances are Kurt Russell was in Dallas, Texas this past week when a portion of downtown was shut down to shoot scenes for… you guessed it, The Madison. The weirdest part of the exciting update that, if anything, confirms The Madison is moving forward? Collider is reporting that the scenes that were being shot in downtown Dallas were for the show’s second season.

Just a friendly reminder… the first season hasn’t even come out yet. Or even been formally announced…

And there’s no doubt that the closed set was being used to shoot scenes for The Madison. Local reports say that the area was shut down from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesday, and that New York-themed items (like NYPD cars and yellow taxis) were used to transform the Dallas area into Manhattan… at least for the narrative of the show.

It’s very intriguing that they’ve kept the public in the dark about The Madison for so long. The show has been rumored for years now, and they’ve managed to shoot an entire season – and now part of Season 2 – without any leaks or information getting out. We still don’t even know for certain how this spinoff will fit into the expansive Yellowstone universe.

Though that (and a Season 1 premiere date) is unknown, we do know that some other talented actors and actresses besides Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are set to be included in the cast. Danielle Vasinova, Ben Schnetzer, Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, and Elle Chapman are all also in The Madison, and it’ll be exciting to meet all of their characters… when we eventually get to see the first season, whenever that might be.The post Taylor Sheridan’s Highly Anticipated ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff, ‘The Madison,’ Gets Confusing Update first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
