Arsenal fell to their first defeat of pre-season due to controversial goal in an otherwise uneventful North London Derby in Hong Kong.
It was a dull first half in truth, with the only shot on target coming from the opening goal, with Pape Sarr lobbing David Raya from distance after Myles Lewis-Skelly looked to have been tripped. With no VAR in effect, the goal stood.
Arsenal dominated the ball for large parts of the second half but failed to create a huge amount of chances. It was a pretty poor game that lacked pace and flow.
Here’s how I rated the players:
David Raya – 4
Ben White (off at ‘) – 6
William Saliba – 6
Jakub Kiwior (off at 77′) – 6
Myles Lewis-Skelly (off at 77′) – 6
Cristian Norgaard (off at 68′) – 6 –
Declan Rice (off at 77’) – 5
Martin Odegaard (off at ‘) – 5
Bukayo Saka (off at 77′) – 6
Kai Havertz (off at 77′) – 4 – Untidy game, a bit of good hold up player in between.
Gabriel Martinelli (off at 68’) – 3 – In truth it’s been a worrying pre-season from Martinelli. With lots of links to new left wingers, I think these performances will only encourage those.
