Pair Of Black Bears Take On Giant Reindeer Christmas Decoration In California Front Yard

We haven’t seen a beatdown of front yard reindeer this bad since Chevy Chase’s Clark Griswold had a mental and emotional breakdown after his decorative lights didn’t work in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Hope everyone is having a happy holiday season so far. Most people love Christmastime, but if you were to ask these bears, they’d probably tell you that they aren’t huge fans Christmas yard decorations. Their dislike for holiday decor could have been what led them to attacking this sizable, inflatable reindeer that was set up in a California front yard.

Either that, or they thought it was a real deer and had visions of venison dancing in their heads.

In the video, two bears can be seen trying to get the best of a blow-up reindeer (that looks to be four or five feet tall). Safe to say that the beasts were a little confused. One of them continually went after the big ol’ antlered blowup, while the other kept watch… or at the very least, decided to wait and see how things played out.

Miraculously and surprisingly, the bears weren’t able to pop the reindeer. I’m not really sure how, because every yard inflatable that I’ve ever owned has been paper thin, and usually taken out by mice in the attic (only for me to discover the next holiday season). Yet here this reindeer inflatable stood, taking a beating from a sharp-clawed, apex predator.

Neighbors down the street captured video (from a safe distance) of the bears attacking the inflatable reindeer. In the video below, you can hear them snickering as they watch one of the more dangerous wild animals out there lose a fight to an inanimate object.

What says Merry Christmas more than some bears being upset about a blow-up reindeer?

They say this is the season for believing, but it’s hard to believe that two bears were bested by an inflatable. And from what I can tell, this wasn’t even a Rudolph decoration. It was just one of the other, non-shiny-nosed reindeer (hard to differentiate between Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen).

But while Rudolph was able to brag about leading Santa’s sleigh, this reindeer can boast that it survived a bear attack… without really doing anything at all. And social media users that stumbled upon the outdoorsy, Christmas-themed clip got a good laugh out of the bears being bumfuzzled. The reindeer inflatable had their brains in a pretzel.

Commenters pointed out that the real animals were probably rather upset that they weren’t going to be able to eat the fake animal for dinner:

“They thought they were gonna be eating good.”

“If that bear ever figures out there’s no protein inside of that thing, he’s going to be really mad.”

“Great advertisement for that inflatable reindeer.”

“Probably thought they were in for a meal of a lifetime.”

“How did they not pop the reindeer?”

Yeah, that’s what I’m sitting here wondering too.
