Newcastle in Alexander Isak transfer U-turn after latest club-record Benjamin Sesko offer

Newcastle are ready to reluctantly cash in on Alexander Isak if they land RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, talkSPORT understands. Eddie Howe‘s side had an offer of €75million (£65m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons turned down by Leipzig last weekend. Leipzig ultimately knocked back the bid as they held out for at least an initial £70m fee – and a future sell-on clause. Sources have told talkSPORT that Sesko’s arrival would pave the way for want-away Isak to move to Liverpool providing the two clubs can agree a fee. Liverpool’s initial offer of £110m plus add-ons was rejected last Friday. Isak has told Newcastle he wants to join the champions with personal terms not believed to be an issue. The ex-Real Sociedad star recently missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia amid uncertainty over his future. It saw him return to former club Real Sociedad to train alone in his preparations for the upcoming campaign. Though he is now back at Newcastle’s training facility as he receives treatment on his thigh injury. Liverpool are looking to sell Darwin Nunez to help finance the Isak deal with AC Milan and Al Hilal among his suitors.
