I’m on Luke’s side here…

This week, before taking the stage at Lollapalooza this Thursday, Luke Combs made a pit stop at Skydeck Chicago in the Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, which has the famous see-through platform where people will stand 103 stories above the city and take pictures and take in the view.

But if you’re scared of heights like I am, this is an absolute nightmare, and even though it’s obviously safe (I guess), because thousands of people do it every year, I don’t know if I could make myself do it, either.

So when one of his fan accounts shared the full video of him “chickening out,” so to speak, I had to laugh because I know I’d feel the same way… he says that he never said he would do it, and he doesn’t “over promise,” but some of his team goes out there and jumps on the thing which made Luke laugh hysterically, probably because he thinks they’re crazy.

In fact, Luke thought it looked so insane that he told the camera at one point that he would rather “have an encounter with a grizzly bear” than walk out on the The Ledge:

“Here’s the thing, I don’t over promise. If I’m not gonna do something, I’ll just tell you. Never one time when this has been brought up, never once have I been like, ‘Oh, for sure I’m gonna do that.’ Never one time. You know why? Because it’s not gonna happen.

I’m so excited to not go on that… dude, get a picture of me not going in it. I would much rather have an encounter with a grizzly bear. I feel like everyone is so sad about me not going… I wish there was a sweatshirt that said, ‘I b****** out of the Willis Tower.’ I would for sure buy that.”

Luke’s relatability never fails, but hey, he has a wife and two young boys at home, so why risk it (even if it is perfectly safe), right? At least that would’ve made a really great excuse… he always keeps it real and this was so funny to watch:
