Landman Soundtrack: Season 2 Premiere Features Turnpike Troubadours, Ella Langley & More

Landman is BACK.

Another banger from Paramount Network’s billion dollar boy, Taylor Sheridan (soon to be NBC’s billion-dollar boy), Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Kayla Wallace and now, the great Sam Elliott, for an action-packed, West Texas, big oil drama.

If you’re not familiar, think Yellowstone but instead of cowboys and ranching, it’s big oil. But for everything that Taylor Sheridan has done, and I’m a fan of a lot of it, Landman has seemingly generated more buzz than any of them, save for Yellowstone, of course.

Here’s a quick look at the Season 2 trailer:

Fans of the show can only hope that Landman‘s second season delivers as many memorable moments as the first. It seemed like every week, another clip from the show was going viral online. And I imagine that the addition of actors Andy Garcia (who will play a cartel boss) and Sam Elliott (who will play Tommy Norris’ father) can only help elevate the hit series to the next level… and raise the stakes even higher.

The second season’s official synopsis implies that a boiling point will be reached one way or another as Thornton’s crisis executive and “fixer” Tommy Norris will certainly be forced to put out some fires:

“As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break.”

Season 2 will offer up 10 episodes, and kicks off TODAY on Paramount+ with Episode 1, “Death And A Sunset.”

If you haven’t given Landman a shot yet, Paramount+ offers a 7 day free trial, so you could get up to speed and cancel before getting charged, but I’m betting once you see everything on there (including Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, live sports, and Tulsa King) you’ll realize it’s easy to get your money’s worth and stick around.

But for as entertaining as the show can be, the soundtrack is where it’s at.

Much like Yellowstone, the soundtrack features some of the best in country music, particularly from the Texas scene, the independent scene, a few of the modern-day Appalachian greats like Ian Noe and Charles Wesley Godwin. It’s simply fantastic.
