Laci Kaye Booth Releases Tragically Beautiful New Single, “I’m In Love With A Man”

A tragically beautiful ballad.

If you’re a female country music lover and Laci Kaye Booth isn’t in your listening rotation… You need to change that immediately. Laci Kaye Booth, hailing from Livingston, Texas, has been making a name for herself in Nashville for years. She had success with her song “Shuffle” from her 2021 self-titled record. It was her 2024 record, The Loneliest Girl In The World, that really showed off her impressive writing chops and incredibly unique voice.

In 2025, Booth continued her hot streak with the release of her first single of the year, “Daddy’s Mugshot,” which was inspired by discovering her dad’s mugshot on Facebook. Booth performed the tune during her Grand Ole Opry debut, joking that his parole officer wouldn’t let him come to his debut.

“I wrote this song called ‘Daddy’s Mugshot’ after I was scrolling on Facebook and I saw my dad’s mugshot going around. And I didn’t know he got arrested. He was grinning from ear to ear. He would be here tonight, but his probation officer wouldn’t let him come, so… Dad, I love you so much, if you’re watching this right now.”

The hypnotizing tune of trying to break her family’s curse to “make it” in Nashville embodies the desire to win big with a smash hit, while not letting go of your roots and doing things your way.

Following that up, Booth shocked some country fans with her cheeky tune “George F***ing Strait,” which tips her hat to the King. The song about George Strait is universally relatable, and I’m shocked no one has put out a song like this sooner, paying homage to The King’s sex appeal. While Booth got some kick back from that song, she kept going, releasing the nostalgic tune “Luck Of The Draw,” and is now closing out the year with another stellar ballad.

Booth is striking a chord with many of her female fans with her new single “I’m In Love With A Man.” The song has a very similar nostalgic feel as “Luck Of The Draw.” Booth shared that this song was very healing for her, and after debuting it at Nashville’s famed Bluebird Cafe, she knew that she needed to cut it in the studio.

“I played this song at the Bluebird the same week that I wrote it, and I knew from the energy and reaction alone that this was a song people needed as much as I needed to write it.

‘I’m In Love With A Man’ is like a love story with a twisted ending. A heartbreaking, psychological thriller of a song. I’m very grateful I got to write it with my talented friends Tofer Brown & Lauren Hungate.”

“He noticed that my hair’s a little darker
When I’m wrong he always plays the martyr
He calls me back, he calls me baby
When I am he don’t call me crazy
I love him but he loves me even harder”

The melody of the song has a slight melancholy feel, which pieces the ballad together beautifully as she shares a heartbreaking shift in the chorus. The seemingly sweet love song takes a turn as the narrator wrestles with her thoughts: although this man is everything she’s dreamed of, she’s not in love with him the same way.

“I’m not a cheater
I’m not a crier
I’m not a leaver
Not even a fighter, or liar
But when we go to bed – I pretend he’s next to me
I’m in love with a man
I’m in love with a man
You’ll never be…” 

In the bridge, the narrator wrestles with her thoughts even more, questioning if she should stay with this man for his potential and because he’s unlike any partner she’s had before, or if she leaves him, knowing that her heart is not in the relationship the same way his is.

It’s a beautifully heartbreaking ballad that I am sure many women can relate to. Whenever you find yourself with a wonderful man who isn’t your person, there is a lot of guilt about leaving that relationship or questioning whether you’re making the right decision.

Booth’s poetic storytelling brought the words that she penned alongside Lauren Hungate and Tofer Brown to life. “I’m In Love With A Man” is a must listen from this week’s new releases.
