What a moment.

It’s been a pretty big year for Jelly Roll. Beyond the fact he recently scored three of the most-played songs on country radio in 2025 with the likes of “I Am Not Okay,” “Liar” and “Heart of Stone, he also received a #1 on both of Billboard’s religious charts, Hot Christian and Christian Airplay, en route to being crowned the #1 Christian song of 2025 with his appearance on Brandon Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

Couple those major chart accomplishments with his continued supporting role on Post Malone’s international Big A** Stadium Tour throughout the year, and it’s safe to say that Jelly Roll has now established himself as one of the biggest stars in the genre today.

Of couse, that’s not even mentioning his powerful testimonies and charity work outside of the studio and stage, something that has been a big draw to plenty of his fans. Simply put, regardless of whether you’re a fan of Jelly’s musical output, you simply cannot deny the impact he’s had on the lives of seemingly millions of people.

To cap off his huge year, today, the “Save Me” singer made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, marking his third appearance on the massive podcast. And while it’s safe to say there’s hardly a boring episode in existence from Rogan, Jelly’s appearance ended up being one of the most memorable to date.

After beginning the podcast with an in-depth discussion about his truly impressive weight-loss journey, which has resulted in the former rapper-turned-country-star lose over 300 pounds, at the very end of the episode, Rogan dropped the bomb that Jelly Roll will officially be joining the Grand Ole Opry as an official member.

Stopping the podcast for a moment, Rogan would play a video from fellow member, Craig Morgan, who formally invited him to join the Opry, noting that Morgan wanted Rogan to play the video on the podcast.

In the video, the “This Ain’t Nothing” singer would tell Jelly Roll:

“Congratulations on all the great things happening in your career, and to thank you for the positive difference you’re making in the lives of so many people who need the help. You’re doing great work, buddy, and I’ll never forget meeting you on the Grand Ole Opry and how much it meant to me to hear you say my music helped you get through some really tough times. That’s something country music does really well.

And who would have ever dreamed back then that I’d be back at the Opry house today to say, ‘Jelly Roll, you’re officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.’ It’s an honor to say, ‘Welcome to the family, brother.'”

Immediately, the “Liar” singer would break down in tears, hands in face. After wiping away his tears of joy, he’d immediately ask Rogan for a hug.

While the two embraced, Jelly would tell Rogan, “I love you,” as the two shared the emotional moment together.

Still in tears, he would reflect on just how much the Opry invitation means to him, also noting that he’d listen to Morgan’s song, “Almost Home,” while he was in jail.

“It don’t get no bigger in country music, bubba… The Grand Ole Opry, dog? I used to buy tickets to go there… I Googled Craig Morgan’s “Almost Home” in jail… And it’s the most tear-jerking song about a homeless man. And it just reminded me of jail, no matter where you are, the mind’s strong.”

Jelly would then recall an emotional moment seeing Morgan perform the song live at the Opry while still wearing an ankle monitor after getting released from jail, noting how much he cried after hearing the song live. He’d also share that his main goal of making music was to make people feel the emotions and eventual validation he felt while listening to “Almost Home.”

“I want to make people the way he [Morgan] makes me feel. That’s what I want to do.”

Rogan would immediately validate his feelings telling him, obviously, that he has touched a countless number of people through his music before Jelly would emphatically tell him:

“We did it Joe!”

The 41-year-old singer/songwriter would also joke to Rogan that he was the first person to ever be invited to join the Grand Ole Opry on a podcast before the two would share an other emotional reflection on their friendship.

It’s truly one of those moments where an article and words don’t truly do the raw, emotional moment justice. Though I tried my best here, the best way to experience this momumental achievement for Jelly Roll would be to watch it for yourself.
