Ghost Forced to Cancel a Mexico City Show After Tobias Forge Got Sick

The first of what was supposed to be Ghost‘s three-date residency in Mexico City ended up not happening at all at the last minute, as frontmant Tobias Forge had fallen ill and was unable to perform.

News of the show’s cancellation spread shortly before the show was supposed to start at Palacio De Los Departes on Tuesday. The band released a statement explaining that Forge was dealing with a bout of food poisoning and was unable to take the stage. The statement, as follows, assured fans that both tonight and tomorrow night’s shows were still on.

“It is with deep regret that we must inform you the GHOST show tonight, September 23, has been cancelled. Tobias Forge is suffering from food poisoning, which makes it impossible for the band to perform. The concerts scheduled for September 24 and 25 will take place as planned.

“If you purchased your tickets online, your refund will be automatically processed to the card used for the purchase, according to the timelines set by your banking institution.

“If you purchased your tickets at Ticketmaster outlets, you may request your refund starting on September 26 at the same location where you made your purchase.”

No band or artist wants to cancel a show, so that had to suck. But having had food poisoning before, I can’t imagine needing to take a massive shit or puke my brains out while trying to hit certain notes. Here’s hoping everything works out for the next couple of days.
