With the summer winding down and the European festival circuit pretty much done, you may already be planning your itinerary for next year’s set of fests to attend. If that’s the case, you may want to keep next year’s Beyond The Gates in mind because they’re going to have an extremely special Emperor set that will temporarily bring some old faces back into the fold.
Announced earlier today, organizers revealed that former Emperor members Håvard “Mortiis” Ellefsen and Bård “Faust” Eithun will share the stage with their former bandmates for a very special set. It’s sure to be an incredibly important moment for black metal fans of all stripes, since Emperor is easily one of the most influential bands in the genre.
“We can’t wait to return to the roots with them when they hit the stage in the iconic Grieghallen.”
In addition to the Emperor announcement, organizers unveiled some of the other bands slated to perform when the festival runs from July 29 to August 1, 2026. Those bands include:
- 1349
- ARCTURUS
- MISOTHEIST
- IMHA TARIKAT
- THE RUINS OF BEVERAST
- SPECTRAL WOUND
- WARNING
- FORTERESSE
- SULPHUR AEON
- CONCRETE WINDS
At least half of those bands listed will be making their debut at Beyond the Gates next year.
