Asking the tough questions.

The NASCAR Cup Series playoff field is officially set, and there will be a 10-race battle to the championship starting this Sunday at Darlington Raceway. Following 26 regular-season races, 16 drivers advanced to the playoffs, and the season finale will take place at Phoenix Raceway on November 4th.

William Byron, the 2025 regular-season champion, and Kyle Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, enter the playoffs as the top seeds. They will be joined by two other Hendrick Motorsports teammates: Chase Elliott, the 2020 series champion, and Alex Bowman, the last driver to make the 2025 playoff field.

And speaking of Chase Elliott, driver of the #9 car for Hendrick Motorsports and the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion who has been voted NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver for seven years in a row now, you may or may not know that his fans have an incredibly unique nickname for themselves… no, it’s not quite as basic as Taylor Swift’s fans calling themselves Swiftie’s… Chase Elliott fans proudly call themselves “Chasexuals.”

Honestly, whoever came up with that is brilliant. I’ve not heard a better fan group name anywhere…

And during an interview with motorsports journalists from Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi on Dirty Mo Media’s The Teardown, they asked Chase if he was familiar with that term. Chase often gets flack from fans for having “no personality,” or just being boring, so I really didn’t know what to expect with this answer.

He’s a favorite among the ladies for obvious reasons, similar to Ryan Blaney, and I know he’s seen comments and even fan pages online with that term as a username. He played it pretty coy, saying he only knows the term because his fellow driver and friend Bubba Wallace has said it to him before. He added that he was totally fine with it if “that’s how they wanna roll” and he’s “happy for them”:

“The only reason I know what this is, or I’ve heard of it, is because Bubba has said that to me before. And I don’t know the meaning behind it, like some sort of a fan club? Okay, that’s kind of what I thought based on the context of how he said it, but you know, that’s okay.

If that’s how they wanna roll, that’s cool… definitely not on my radar, but I’m happy for them.”

Honestly, that was a much funnier response than I was expecting…

And if you don’t know much Chase’s “boring” personality accusations, this provides some great context and is an all-time great NASCAR  meme:
