After months of uncertainty surrounding his canceled residency at the Brooklyn Mirage, Black Coffee has announced a headlining performance at SummerStage in Central Park on Sunday, August 24th.
Originally slated to begin May 3rd, Black Coffee’s four-date DJ residency at the Mirage was abandoned as the famed electronic music venue stumbled through financial and operational crises. Ticket-holders were left in limbo, but this week’s Central Park announcement puts an end to that drawn-out saga.
“New York! It’s been heartbreaking to miss you all Summer, but I knew I had to make it up to you… Let’s meet this Sunday in Central Park,” Black Coffee wrote on social media.
The Brooklyn Mirage’s unraveling stems from the recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of its parent company, Avant Gardner. With $155.3 million in debt, the company’s ambitious $30 million redesign of the Mirage never came to fruition. Safety inspection failures and contentious permit issues kept the doors shut before Avant Gardner ousted its embattled CEO, Josh Wyatt, and replaced him with nightlife veteran Gary Richards.
Brooklyn Mirage wiped out a year’s worth of programming amid the financial fallout, scrapping planned shows from a roster of superstars including Alesso, Subtronics, The Chainsmokers and EDM.com Class of 2024 artist Sara Landry. Richards and the venue’s proprietors filed a Temporary Place of Assembly Certificate requesting activation beginning June 1, 2026, suggesting it won’t relaunch operations until then.
For fans, Black Coffee’s SummerStage pivot offers both relief and a rare chance to experience his signature sound against the skyline of Central Park. You can purchase tickets to the show here.
