Billy Bob Thornton Spotted Filming ‘Landman’ In The Heart Of Dallas Ahead Of November Season 2 Premiere

Landman season 2 is in full swing of being filmed. The hit Taylor Sheridan show is set in West Texas oil boomtowns, revolving around the life of Tommy Norris, who is played by Billy Bob Thornton, a landman working for an independent oil company. The show follows the chaos of keeping all the rigs in production and the fascinating family dynamic of Norris’ daughter coming to live with him. At the same time, he attempts to rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife.

Of course, this is just one of many successful TV series that Taylor Sheridan has under his belt. The rugged and rough-around-the-edges character of Norris captured the hearts of fans, and the West Texas landscape captivated fans of existing shows like Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. 

In April, the cast began shooting for season 2 throughout various Texas locations. While most of the show is filmed in Fort Worth, Texas, the team did shake things up and was seen filming in Dallas today, July 21st. Billy Bob Thornton was spotted walking in the Knox/Henderson neighborhood, specifically on Knox Street in a major retail and dining area.

Many Dallasites filled up the comments section, noting how they were so sad they missed seeing this moment:

“My dream date!”

“Can I be an extra?”

“Can’t wait to watch the new season.”

“WHATTTTT HOW DARE I MISS THIS.”

“I’m jealous!”

And one girl hilariously commented that it disrupted her routine.

“Made me late to pilates!! I will be sending the production company an invoice.”

I think I’d be perfectly okay with paying a late cancellation fee for a workout class to see Billy Bob Thornton in action.

Seeing filming is beyond exciting for Landman fans as the season two premiere date nears, which has been confirmed to be November of this year.

For this season of the show, Taylor Sheridan approached sharing the script in a slightly different manner. Sheridan is known for keeping scripts close to his chest, but he is showing his hand somewhat before the start of season 2 filming. In a sit-down with Gold Derby, Billy Bob confessed that he’s only seen half the script so far, which is different than how Sheridan presented it to the cast for Season 1:

“Last year, we had every episode when we started. We do not this year. We’ve only seen about half of it. I can tell you this much. I’m loving this season, the relationships are really growing and gelling, not only as actors, but with the characters. The first season of anything, you’re explaining everything to everybody and the trick to writing things like that is to not make it seem like exposition, and I thought Taylor did a wonderful job of that in Season 1.”

Naturally, you don’t need to spend time setting the stage and the characters when you’re writing the second season, so for him, this season has been really exciting so far:

“But now, people know who we are, so we don’t have to set anything up anymore. We just dove right into it and we were these people again… this season I’m actually gonna have a pillowcase on my head the entire season. Yeah, even when I’m eating, even at home, and it’s so exciting!”

Season two of Landman is adding some new characters, too, like the great Sam Elliott, and I’m sure we’ll see much more of Demi Moore and Andy Garcia in this season as well. It will be very interesting to see how Sheridan writes Elliott’s character, along with the plot twists and turns planned for this season.

November can’t get here soon enough.
