“Karma”: Tom Segura Claims Garth Brooks LOVES Rewatching The Video Of His Horrific Basketball Injury
The Tom Segura and Garth Brooks rivalry continues.
It’s the rivalry with quite the backstory. The whole joke that Tom Segura cooked up and directed at the 2-time Grammy winner stems from a video that Garth Brooks released back in 2018 promoting his Stadium Tour. If you happened to miss it, just notice the country music legend’s cold, dead eyes throughout the announcement and stick around for the end where he weirdly says he really likes “getting physical playing music.”
Check it out:
Garth could do himself a favor and just delete that video from his page.
And of course, the other video that gave Tom endless material was Garth’s “Welcome to Facebook” video from way back in 2014. Shot from a dimly lit hotel room, it’s given us iconic phrases such as “I like that,” “slick stuff, neat stuff, raw stuff,” “think of it as a conversation” and “let the conversation begin.”
Believe it or not, those two videos sparked an entire movement (and a subsequent Netflix show where Tom Segura really went after Garth Brooks).
Segura and his wife – fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky (hosts of the Your Mom’s House podcast) – stumbled upon the bizarre announcement video for Garth’s Stadium Tour back in 2018, as well as the Facebook video, and they absolutely ran with the “this guy might be a serial killer” joke. Loyal followers of Segura and Pazsitzky followed the lead of the two comedians and then started bombarding any social media posts of Brooks’ with comments asking:
“Where are the bodies Garth?”
Needless to say, because of that, Garth Brooks has been confirmed to not like Tom Segura, and understandably so. The country star often has to turn off the comments section on his social media posts… which just makes the people behind Tom Segura’s “Where are the bodies?” movement that much more suspicious.
And I will admit that what usually makes a rivalry great is that both sides have high moments. With this Segura-Brooks rivalry, it seems like only Tom has benefited from this whole, ridiculous joke. Garth Brooks and his team just have to deal with the headache that comes from people bombarding everything he does with questions about bodies… and families needing closure.
Though I say that, the country music icon apparently gets a kick out of a viral video of Tom Segura horribly injuring himself trying to dunk a basketball, so it’s not a total loss for Garth.
Evidently, Garth Brooks has the video of Tom Segura horrifically breaking his arm and tearing his patellar tendon simultaneously at the ready, and often watches it. If you’ve seen it, you know it’s pretty nasty.. hard to watch. But according to the comedian, Garth then tells whoever is around that the video is proof of karma existing.
Segura disclosed all of this during a recent interview on The Dan LeBatard Show after he was asked about the connection between him and the country singer:
“I learned this first hand from someone who is directly related to one of his high-level employees. The person who I spoke to – I’m trying not to give out too much of their information – was like, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve met him, weird guy. My relative works with him.’ I said, ‘Does he know about these rumors?’ And he goes, ‘Of course he knows, and he doesn’t get it.’
They ask him, ‘Do you hate Tom?’ And the person that works with Garth says, ‘Garth doesn’t hate anybody.’ That’s such a creepy thing to say. Then he said that (Garth) sometimes looks at the video of me tearing my patella tendon and breaking my arm and goes, ‘Karma. Karma, right here.’ So yeah, that’s how he responds.”
Unbelievable if true. Although I will say, responding to that question with “Garth doesn’t hate anybody” is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt, the most Garth Brooks answer I’ve ever heard.
What’s funny is that, while Garth apparently likes to watch the video, Tom Segura gets a lot of joy from knowing that the country music star may or may not (but probably does) view the clip from time to time. I like to imagine that Garth Brooks only cues it up when he needs a little pick-me-up.
Maybe Garth watches it when he wishes that he could leave his comments open on social media? Segura touched on that impact that he’s had in the interview as well:
“You know the internet has completely ruined his social media? Comments are off on everything. First he turned them off on Instagram. Then it turned off on Facebook. Those are obviously big platforms for him, and it’s because everyone is asking him where bodies are buried, and if they can have their grandmother back. It’s completely over for him on social media.”
And it’s all thanks to a running joke from Tom Segura.
