After 10 Years Of Daily Facebook Lives, Neal McCoy Just Took His Pledge Of Allegiance Tradition To The White House
Neal McCoy celebrated 10 years of citing the “Pledge of Allegiance” in a very special way.
Every morning for the last decade, Neal McCoy has gotten up and started his day the same way many of us did when we were in school: saying the Pledge of Allegiance. It was back on January 7, 2016 that the ’90s country superstar began broadcasting his morning recitation live on Facebook for thousands to watch and recite along with him.
McCoy recently told us here at Whiskey Riff how it all got started:
“I was sitting at home and I told my wife, I said, ‘I’m just going to type in the Pledge of Allegiance on my Facebook page.’ And she said, ‘What are you doing that for?’ … It was early January of 2016 and I knew that the the Republicans and Democrats were trying to figure out who their nominees were going to be for president…
I said, ‘Really, what I want to do is just let people know that the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America is just a small, short thing. But it’s pledging your love for our American flag and our country.’”
And that short and small thing grew into something bigger than McCoy could have ever imagined. Thousands tune in every day to recite the Plege with him, and he gets messages all of the time about how much the little tradition means to the masses.
Obviously, McCoy was looking forward to January of 2026, because on the 7th, the country music singer reached 10 straight years of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance live on Facebook every morning (3,653 days, to be exact). And when he went live on social media today, he revealed to his followers and fellow Pledge of Allegiance reciters that he was at the White House.
He took a moment to thank everyone who helped him get there:
“Let me thank all of you guys for being so gracious to us for 10 years. Because there were days where, if I wouldn’t have been held accountable by you folks, I would have probably just slept in. I haven’t been able to do that for quite a while.”
Then, in what one could call a storybook moment, Neal McCoy was able to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the White House. Check it out:
What a cool moment… and just goes to show how far you can go with just one small step a day.
McCoy also addressed the speculation that he’d be concluding his daily “Pledge of Allegiance” after reaching the 10-year mark. He briefly joked that he was, before clarifying that he happily plans on continuing the tradition for as long as he can. And it was pretty special to see him celebrate his “Pledge of Allegiance” a decade in the making by reciting the 31 words from right in front of the White House.
And as he reminded viewers, Neal McCoy isn’t trying to be political with all of this, emphasizing that there’s nothing political about it. Rather, he wants to set an example and show people that they can still come together:
“I just want to let people know before we start bickering back and forth that we still should show love and respect for our flag and our country. Pretty simple.
It’s not meant to be political. It’s just meant to show your love and respect for our flag and country. Doggone, it can’t be that hard.”
Amen.
