The Gunners take the lead through Gabriel! Saka sends the corner into the centre. It bounces through everyone to the Arsenal centre-back who hooks the ball high into the net from close range!

55' Chelsea's free-kick doesn't lead to much. Up the other end, Mendy wafts Jesus' cross out for a throw-in.
53' Partey fires a pass into the feet of Martinelli, who's outmuscled. Loftus-Cheek powers down the right and gets shrugged over by the Ghanaian. Chelsea free-kick.

Azpilicueta goes into the book for a foul on Martinelli that has Chelsea incensed.
47' Aubameyang then heads clear a really poor Saka corner before Havertz is prevented from going one-on-one on the counter-attack by referee Oliver, who spotted a handball by the German.

45+1' Martinelli dribbles towards the byline and Arsenal get a corner out of it. It doesn't beat the first man. That's all for now.
45' Saka tries to take on Cucurella again but Jorginho comes across to help his team-mate out. There'll be one added minute before half-time.
42' Yellow Card to Bukayo Saka.
40' Jesus' cross from the left has the sting taken out of it. It loops safely into the arms of Mendy in the Chelsea goal.
37' Zinchenko tries to pick out Martinelli with a ball over the top. Chelsea's centre-backs read the situation well to cut it out.
32' Havertz plays the ball against Saliba to earn Chelsea their first corner of the match down their left. Mount floats it into the middle. Silva can't keep his header down.
31' Jesus can't get past Silva down Arsenal's right. The forward is too eager to make amends and unfairly trips Jorginho.
27' Aubameyang slides into White, catching his former team-mate on the top of his foot. Arsenal's former captain is deservedly booked.
21' Chelsea counter and Mount has a hopeful shot blocked. Havertz slips as he goes up against Saliba down the left. Mount bundles over White to prevent Arsenal from breaking forward.

Both defences making crucial interventions!
17' Things have calmed down slightly after a frantic opening 15 minutes.

Arsenal will be the happier with the way they've started, though.
12' The two sides are going back and forth, with Chelsea now pressuring Arsenal with a number of crosses into the box.

The Gunners deal with them all and Xhaka eventually calms the situation by nodding the ball back to Ramsdale.

First opportunity for Chelsea but they don't make the most of it!
7' Odegaard swings a free-kick into the Chelsea area and Mendy looks very hesitant under the high ball.
5' Good Arsenal football - including a nutmeg on Loftus-Cheek by Odegaard - wins the Gunners a corner but it's well defended at the near post.
3' This has been a very positive start by Arsenal and they have a free-kick just outside the Chelsea area after Cucurella brings down the surging Saka.
1' Arsenal immediately break down the left-hand side and win a throw after an errant Jorginho clearance.
